Orthodontics – Invisalign

One of the primary concerns people often have about dental braces is the aesthetic impact of the metalwork on their smile. Especially for adults, the prospect of wearing unattractive metal braces for long periods of time can be very discouraging.

Invisalign® is a popular choice when it comes to teeth straightening and uses a series of clear aligners to straighten the teeth, rather than metal braces. These aligners are removable and practically invisible, meaning that you can straighten your teeth without anyone really noticing.

At meals, you simply remove the aligners, allowing you to eat whatever you want and still brush and floss normally. Invisalign® does not use metal brackets, nor wires, so there are no painful mouth abrasions like you see with traditional metal braces. The aligners are custom made to fit your teeth, providing a comfortable fit.

What’s the Invisalign treatment process?

Invisalign®  treatment starts with a consultation by an invisalign-trained doctor.

Dr. Abrahao offers FREE  Invisalign®  consultations and will evaluate your smile and map out a precise, customized digital treatment plan that showcases the step-by-step transformation of your smile.

Once you approve your treatment plan, Your Invisalign® clear aligners will be custom-made for you. The aligners are virtually invisible and fit snugly over your teeth. You will wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, as directed by Dr. Abrahao.

Each set of aligners will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, according to your treatment plan, until you reach your beautiful new smile.

How long does Invisalign take?

The total amount of aligners required varies with each individual case, but 20-29 sets per arch is typical.

Replacement of Metal Fillings

Many patients are opting to swap out metal fillings in favor of composite fillings. It has become more common for people to have them removed and replaced. Dr.Gonzalez and Dr. Abrahao offer state-of-the-art composite (tooth colored) fillings to replace silver fillings.

While amalgam (metal) fillings have always been an effective filling material for restoring teeth, they do not provide a natural-looking appearance. Many patients now prefer state-of-the-art, white tooth-colored fillings known as “bonding” that provide durable and mercury-free restorations.

By precisely matching tooth-colored composite fillings with the natural color of the tooth, Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. Abrahao are able to implement white fillings that are virtually invisible. These white restorations look great and can transform your smile quickly and affordably in just one visit.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth-shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile. Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile. Reasons For Porcelain Veneers: › Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile › Crooked teeth › Misshapen teeth › Severely discolored or stained teeth › Teeth that are too small or large › Unwanted or uneven spaces › Worn or chipped teeth What Does Getting Porcelain Veneers Involve? Getting veneers usually requires two visits to complete the process.

  • On the 1st visit – The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer. A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and our team and a temporary veneer will be placed.
  • On the 2nd visit – The teeth will be cleansed with special liquids to achieve a durable bond. Bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and veneer and a special light beam is used to harden and set the bond.

You will receive care instructions for veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new veneers. Interested in Veneers? Contact us today to schedule your consultation.

Botox Q & A

How does Botox work?

Botulinum toxin type A (Botox) has been used for many years to successfully treat the appearance of facial wrinkles. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles, reducing muscle activity that causes moderate to severe wrinkles that relaxes and softens their appearance.

Botox is a brand name of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. There are also other brand names, such as Dysport and Xeomin.

What are the benefits of using Botox?

Botox can be used in facial wrinkles and is most often used in the following areas:

› Horizontal forehead wrinkles: Above the eyebrow lines that stretch across the forehead.

› Eye wrinkles: The “crow’s feet” that gather at the corners of the eyes when you smile or laugh.

› 11 lines: Two vertical lines between your brows.

How Is a Botox Procedure Done?

Getting Botox takes only a few minutes and doesn’t require anesthesia. Dr. Abrahao will inject Botox with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort.

How Long Does a Botox Injection Last?

The effects from Botox generally take 7 to 14 days to see full results and will vary by patient lasting anywhere from three to six months.
